Named after highly regarded boatbuilder and instructor, the Belford Gray was launched in 1992 at the Brooklin Boat Yard before a large crowd of the WoodenBoat School. The construction of this sloop was overseen by Gordon Swift; he taught large boat construction at the school from 1982-1992.
This model is a traditional Maine Friendship sloop. To enable the modeler to finish this as a varnished hull, the kit comes with pre-cut lifts in alternating layers of basswood and mahogany. The hull can also be painted if desired.
