About the Charles. W. Morgan Whaling Bark Ship
Named for its owner, the Charles. W. Morgan was a whaling ship built in 1841. Active in the 18th and 19th centuries, ships like this one were used to harvest whale blubber, the oil from which was used in lamps.
Constructed using live oak, hemlock root and white oak, it can now be viewed at the Mystic Seaport museum in Connecticut. If you cannot get to Connecticut, this kit will allow you create your very own replica of this grand ship.
