Description

The Fannie A Gorham was launched in 1881 in Belfast, Maine. The Gorham was built for coastal trade from New England to the Southern ports. A schooner is a sailing vessel with two or more masts that are rigged in a variety of ways.  The fore mast is shorter than the rear mast.  The main sail is attached to the rear mast.  The sails are fore and rear rigged, running along the line of the keel.

For the intermediate modeler this model boat kit, with her off-center main mast, centerboard, and shallow draft, is an unusual and interesting subject for the modeler.

BlueJacket Shipcrafters, Inc. has been in continuous operation for many years.  The company was founded in 1905 by a U.S. Navy Department architect and head of the Navy’s model shop in Washington, DC.  They are the oldest ship modeling company in the U.S.  They specialize in the design and manufacture of wooden model kits and model ship fittings. All work is performed by their craftsmen and is not outsourced.

This is an intermediate level model.
