Designed by Samuel H. Pook and commissioned by Seacomb & Taylor in Boston, the Red Jacket was built by George Thomas in Rockland, Maine.  She was launched in 1853 as one of the largest and fastest clipper ships built.  The Red Jacket was known as an extreme clipper, even though some did not consider her under that strict definition.  She set a record, on her first voyage, for commercial sailing from New York to Liverpool of 13 days, 1 hour and 25 minutes. She was captained by a veteran packet ship commander Asa Eldridge with a crew of 65.

This model boat kit is designed for expert modelers. Her plans are based upon current research and finest available.  The kit contains a carved hull, along with a great deal of etched brass, pewter fittings, etc. Optional copperplates available for additional realism.

BlueJacket Shipcrafters, Inc. has been in continuous operation for many years.  The company was founded in 1905 by a U.S. Navy Department architect and head of the Navy’s model shop in Washington, DC.  They are the oldest ship modeling company in the U.S.  They specialize in the design and manufacture of wooden model kits and model ship fittings. All work is performed by their craftsmen and is not outsourced.

This is an expert level model.  The Length is 41”.  The Scale is 1/8”.
