This model is a great replica of the famous HMS Bellona, a 74-gun third-rate ship of the Royal Navy line. HMS Bellona was a prototype for the iconic 74-gun ships of the later part of the 18th century and was designed by Sir Thomas Slade. The ship started to being constructed in 1758 in Chatham and was launched in 1790. This ship was the second one of the Royal Navy to carry this name.
She gained her fame especially by participating in several wars including the Seven Years´ War, American Revolutionary War and the Napoleonic Wars. The name of the ship, Bellona, is derived from the name of the goddess of war in Roman Mythology. HMS Bellona was in service for over 50 years from 1760 to 1814. The historic warship of the Royal Navy is remembered for its long service life and contribution in various wars.
