About the Chinese Junk Model
A junk is a type of sailing ship, which originated from China. The sails are fully battened. There are two types of junks: the Northern Junk and the Southern Junk. The northern junk is created from Chinese river boats. The southern junk is created from the Austrian ship models. The latter traded with the Eastern Han Dynasty from the 2nd century AD. They were used by Chinese traders throughout Southeast Asia. They can still be found throughout Southeast Asia, in India and mainly in China. Chinese junks are used for a wide variety of purposes, from recreational sailing to the transporting of cargo. They also range in size from small river vessels to large ocean-going ships.
