About the Evergreen
Founded in September of 1968 by Yung-Fa Chang, the Evergreen Marine Corporation is a Taiwanese shipping company. Evergreen’s ships have around 240 port of calls, spanning across 80 countries. The container ship operates on one of the most popular trade routes. These routes stretch from East Asia to North America, Central America and the Caribbean and also to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe and from Europe to the eastern coast of North America. Other well known trade routes include;
East Asia to Australia;
East Asia to East and Southern Africa;
East Asia to South America;
and the intra-Asian route linking East Asian ports to the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.
The company’s activities include transport, container and shipbuilding, port management, engineering and property development. In 1992, 29,000 rubber ducks were unintentionally dumped into the Pacific Ocean by a container lost overboard by Evergreen’s ship Ever Laurel. On 23 March 2021, Evergreen’s Ever Given became lodged in the Suez Canal, bringing shipping around the world to a virtual standstill. After nearly a week of hard work, tugs and machinery were able to get the ship back afloat.
About the Evergreen Ship Model
Evergreen’s shipping containers are painted green with the company name “Evergreen” in white, as seen on the container model. Evergreen Marine ships carry 61 container ships, with a total fleet of 130 vessels of 400,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit). This figure rose to 178 container ships in 2008. They intend to build a further 100 vessels.
In building the model ship, all the materials used have been carefully selected and prepared, from chequered hardwoods to polished metal fittings and hand-sewn leather upholstery. The Evergreen model is one of our manufacturer’s most majestic ship models. It is one of the new models in our catalogue. It should also be noted that all the models we produce are ready to be displayed and come with a wooden base and a brass nameplate.
