The Vindo 40 came from a boat yard on the west coast of Sweden that has the same name. Their previous venture the Vindo 50 made them famous and created a great demand for the boats, prompting newer models. The Vindo 40 was launched in 1979 and succeeded the Vindo 32. It was best known for the reversed topsides of the hull. Vindos have made a name for themselves as among the best cruiser yachts that were ever built and are still very popular among sailing enthusiasts.

This boat was designed by Carl Andersson of Marin AB of Sweden and built by Notesunds Varv AB. The overall length of this boat stands at 30 ft 8 in. The length at waterline is at 24 ft 6 in. The beam has a measurement of 9 ft 7 in. The Vindo 40 has a maximum draft of 4 ft 5 in. The displacement of this vessel is 4600 kg. It has a ballast of 1900 kg. The rig type is a masthead sloop. For engines the original model used a Volvo Penta diesel, model MD2B

The Vindo 40 can accommodate up to five people in two cabins. There is an opening hatch to foredeck. The Vindo 40 is an iconic boat with pleasing lines and excellent seakeeping abilities.
