The original Caspian Voyager is an offshore supply ship built by Topaz Marine for the purposes of transporting supplies and cargo to and from offshore platforms such as oil rigs. This is the main purpose of ships such as these, they are very important for the functioning of oil rigs and other off shore platforms. They also carry fire fighting equipment, should there ever be a fire on an oil rig, these ships would provide vital support to stop the spread of the fire and prevent further damage.

The Caspian Voyager was built in 2012 and registered to the port Baku in Azerbaijan. She has a total length of 79.5 metres, a draft of 6 metres, and a dead weight of 4000 tonnes. She is powered by 2 Mak 8M25C engines generating up to 6,705 break horse power. The ship also has 2 Berg 800 kW bow thrusters which allow for greater manoeuvrability and control of the vessel. The Caspian Voyager has a fuel capacity of 936 metres cubed and can reach a total speed of 15 knots. The ship includes 8 1-man cabins and 12 2-man cabins with a total capacity of 30 people.
