Introducing OcCre’s fantastic new Belle Poule model ship! The real-life equivalent was a remarkable 60-gun first rank frigate that made history in the French Navy. Its claim to fame? Transporting Napoleon Bonaparte’s remains from Saint Helena back to France, an event forever known as the Retour des cendres.
She was laid down in 1828, and launched six years later in 1834, before being scrapped in 1888. The vessel had a displacement of 2500 tonnes, and measured in at 54 metres in length. She was armed with 60 guns and could accommodate and enormous crew of 301.
This terrific ready-made wooden ship model pays homage to the Belle Poule and its importance.
