Handcrafted, scratch built and readymade Merry Maid model yacht
The Merry Maid model yacht is one of the many available here at Premier Ship Models. With over 400 model yachts in our Standard, Superior, Premier and Custom ranges, you are sure to find something to suit any budget or collection.
Built in 1904, by Charles E. Nicholson, the Merry Maid sailing yacht was designed to be a racer in the category of Big Class Yachts. Merry Maid had her first race on June 11, 1904 at the Dover Race where she was widely appreciated by the crowd for a combination of high speed and comfort.
Racing against other Big Yachts like White Weather and Veldoral; Merry Maid went on to win the King’s Cup in presence of King Henry VII. Her owner Hardcastle sold her, only to buy her back in 1908 and transform her into a Ketch in 1911.
The beautiful yacht was constructed from Caravel planked teak on Oak and steel ring frames, with a length of 34.10 meters, a beam of 5.44 meters and draft of 3.80 meters.
Using the highest quality materials and workmanship our model yachts are perfect additions to home décor. Our flawless model yacht fully represents inclusive features of the original, with close attention to the smallest details.
