About the Nuestra Senora

Launched in 1621, the Nuestra Senora (Nuestra Senora de Atocha), was a Spanish treasure galleon. In 1622, the ship was struck by a hurricane with its fleet and unfortunately sank. Of the ships that sank that day, the Nuestra Senora is the most well-known.

On board, there was said to be copper, silver, gold, tobacco and gems from Spanish ports. Many years later in 1985, much of the wreck was recovered by an America commercial treasure hunting expedition.
