The Norwegian SS Bergensfjord model ship is one of the many scale models we have available in our Custom built range of classic liners, here at Premier Ship Models. Built by Cammell Laird, in Birkenhead, the SS Bergensfjord was launched from its shipyard on April 8, 1913. The first maiden voyage came on September 25, 1913, where it set from Christiania (Oslo) to New York without stopping at any European port. The time it took to travel from Norway to the US was drastically shortened, from up to four weeks to just one week.

Bergensfjord boasted a speed of 15 knots, a gross tonnage of 10,699, and could carry 1,200 passengers at a time. Throughout the Second World War, Bergensfjord transported around 165,000 Allied troops, carried thousands of Axis prisoners of war and helped repatriate thousands of released Allied war prisoners.
