The original Dorade yacht was designed in 1929 by Olin Stephens of Sparkman & Stephens and built in 1929-1930 in City Island, New York. Dorade gained its biggest fame by finishing first at the Transatlantic Race. Later on, the yacht also won the Bermuda Race in 1932 as well as the Fastnet Race. Dorade was completely restored in 1997 at the shipyard of Argentario in Italy.
